Bekir Kemal Ataman's Involvement in Research

My biggest research in the last few years had been the "list of mailing lists on archives, records management and museums," I have been publishing over the web. It carries information about more than 130 lists as of this writing (March 2001). This sub-site have become really popular and received more than 2500 hits in the first 15 days following its promotion in mid-January and about another 2000 in the following month.

However, my research that I value most is the "Union Guide to Archival Resources in Turkey": Funded by Hazel E. Heughan Trust (Scotland). This project, which I began in 1994, had to come to a halt when I lost both my father and my only brother in that year. Within that time I had collected, and input into a database 5000 addresses, in various categories, of organizations that have a potential to hold archival collections; searched similar studies all around the world and obtained samples of the information they have brought together; and prepared the questionnaire to be sent to these organizations. I hope to carry on with this project someday.
